Vernon Junior College
Vernon Junior College came to life at the beginning of the year of 1970. Located in Texas, adjacent to the Red River, Vernon Junior College's campus reached an all time enrollment high with almost 3000 students in the year of 2005. Vernon Junior College offers a wide array of degrees, but is most well known for its acclaimed associate degree teaching programs, especially those in Early Childhood Development. There are also a wide range of athletic programs offered that help athletes to develop further before attempting to earn a spot at a prestigious Division 1 college on the athletic team. Vernon Junior College offers baseball, rodeo, softball and volleyball. The most popular athletic events at Vernon Junior College are baseball and softball, with the teams regularly competing for the Junior College title. Vernon Junior College offers dormitories for students that wish to live on campus. These rooms are made up of two twin beds, two dressers and two desks. Room mates can be prearranged or assigned randomly by the housing committee. Students at Vernon Junior College can also enjoy a variety of home cooked food in the dining commons. This public junior college offers students who are not ready to make the step into a four year university the chance to learn and achieve a degree before deciding to join the workforce or pursue further studies. Vernon Junior College staff and faculty are always available to students for counsel regarding opportunities to further their education.
